the modern "i do"

The venue search can be one of the most overwhelming aspects of planning a wedding. For most brides, the type of venue you choose will set the overall tone of your wedding - and if you don't have a set vision in mind, this process can quickly become a stressful one.

While traditional ballrooms can offer you an elegant, traditional (and easy!) option - they often are inclusive of chairs, dinnerware, catering etc. - we just love the idea of a modern loft wedding. A blank open space can be intimidating but it also gives you the freedom to create exactly the wedding you want, from the type of chairs you sit in to the design and layout of the space. It's also great for coordinating a color scheme - a neutral space works beautifully with any palette.

One of our favorite loft venues is The Glass Houses. Located on the 21st floor of the Chelsea Arts Building, the space offers magnificent views of the Hudson River and midtown Manhattan and is the perfect setting for all types of events.

Check out the photos below for our inspirations on transforming a plain space into a spectacular event!

The space, gorgeous on its own, has great natural light and floor-to-ceiling windows

The Rehearsal Dinner: Whether you're a group of ten or 110, The Glass Houses is the perfect venue for a rehearsal dinner. The space is ideal for long banquet-style seating and without the constraints of the day-of details, couples can play up different styles and colors. The photos below show some options for breaking the mold.

Our Glossy Black Bellini chairs are a chic seating option for banquet dining.

Colored crystal chandeliers take the place of an over-the-top centerpiece - perfect for brides who want a wow-factor without taking up valuable table space.

The Engagement Party: New Yorkers love to throw a party and brides around the globe are constantly recreating their loft-party vibe. Kick-start your engagement with the bash of the year - our sleek lounge pieces and ultra cool accessories will guarantee a good time for all.

One of my favorite lounges (created and photographed by Ron Wendt Design) is elegant and stylish at the same time - the mix of textures and fabrics add detail to the space without being fussy.

Your groom will love the ultra modern look of this understated lounge. The Hudson pieces are one of our favorite loft collections - add some highboys and a bar and instantly create your own private club.

Bridal Showers and Wedding Receptions: Just because it's on the intimate side, don't rule out The Glass Houses for your reception - the venue can actually hold 150 for a seated dinner. For smaller scale celebrations, like bridal showers or luncheons, section off a part of the room for dining and use the remaining part to create a luxurious bridal lounge.

Elegant enough for ladies who lunch yet timeless enough to satisfy a modern taste, the Glossy White Bellini Chairs and Cube Tables offer a stunningly simple setting for a girls-only get-together.

For those who want the tabletop to capture guests' attention, our clear Victoria Ghost chairs keep the look clean and allows the focus to remain on the design.
